Finishing
Fasten off and weave in the ends. Block flat: wet the piece, pin it out round on a towel and let it dry (starch if you like) — our advice, not in the 1915 text.
What we changed from the 1915 text
The original wording is kept wherever it works. These are the only changes, each one checked by the stitch simulator:
- Rnd 5 — « ch 2, miss 1, 1 t » is the END of the round (it completes the first group of 5), not part of the repeat
- Rnd 12 — printing error in the first section: « ch 2, miss 2, 6 t over 6 t » must be « miss 1 » (as in the repeat) — the group has 7 t
- Rnd 13 — « Sl to second t » must pass the first 2 t (the ch 3 then stands on the 3d t), because every repeat misses 2 before each group
- Rnd 14 — « Sl to second t » must pass the first 2 t (the ch 3 then stands on the 3d t), because every repeat misses 2 before each group
- Rnd 15 — « Sl to second t » must pass the first 2 t, because every repeat misses 2 before each group
- Rnd 16 — printing errors in the repeat: « ch 2, miss 1 » must be « miss 2 » and the repeat must end with « ch 2, miss 2 », exactly like the first section of the same round
- Rnd 17 — « Sl to second t » must pass the first 2 t, because every repeat misses 2 before each group
- Rnd 18 — « Sl to second t » must pass the first 2 t, because every repeat misses 2 before each group
- Rnd 19 — the text leaves the « miss 1 » places open: in every group of 5 meshes the 2nd misses 1 st and the others miss 2 — 15 meshes over the 42 sts of each eighth, and the same base under each of the 24 pyramids of round 20
- Rnd 27 — « repeat from first of round 23 times » = 24 fans in all (one per pyramid)
- 21st-26th rounds — « Make 6 more rounds like 20th … » written out round by round, each one checked by the simulator
- finishing — « Block or starch flat » is our advice, not in the 1915 text: the solid areas grow by 16 dc a round (8 sections), so the piece needs blocking to lie flat, as centerpieces of the time were
