I’m Emily Cook, the slightly chaotic mastermind behind Cookzya—where family recipes meet modern twists, and where I prove daily that yes, you really can burn water (don’t ask how).

My love for cooking began in childhood, mostly because I was the kid sneaking cookie dough instead of playing outside. My mother and grandmother worked hard to teach me the sacred art of not setting the kitchen on fire, and—surprisingly—some of it stuck! My signature dish since I was ten? Pasta with shrimp—which sounds fancier than it is, but it started my journey.

Today, I share the kitchen with my daughter Rachel, my partner-in-crime. She’s inherited the family cooking gene (with better smoke alarm management, thankfully) and brings fresh perspectives and new recipes. Together, we turn kitchen chaos into family magic. Our dream? That future generations will carry on these recipes—hopefully with fewer fire alarms than I did.
