Description

This Asian Cucumber Salad TikTok Recipe is a fresh salad perfect for a quick side dish or easy dinner. It makes a great weeknight meal that the whole family will enjoy, combining crisp cucumbers with vibrant flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 pcs cucumbers
  • 3 tsp granulated white sugar
  • 2 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp garlic crushed
  • 2 to 3 tbsp green onion chopped
  • 1 ½ tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 tsp rice vinegar
  • 3 tsp Chinese chili oil
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 3 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare all ingredients needed for the salad.
  2. In a bowl, combine sugar, sesame seeds, crushed garlic, and chopped green onion.
  3. Pour in soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili oil, and sesame oil, then set this mixture aside.
  4. Trim the ends of each cucumber and place them between chopsticks to avoid cutting through completely.
  5. Create diagonal cuts along the cucumber’s length to form spirals, then rotate and cut perpendicularly, repeating for all cucumbers.
  6. Transfer the cucumber spirals into a bowl, sprinkle salt over them, and gently rub the salt in. Allow to rest for 8 to 10 minutes.
  7. Rinse the cucumbers with cold water to remove excess salt.
  8. Toss the cucumbers with the prepared marinade until fully coated and serve.

Notes

  • Make sure to cut the cucumbers at an angle to get the spiral effect
  • Salting helps crisp the cucumbers, and rinsing them up to three times removes extra salt
  • For best flavor, refrigerate the dressed cucumbers for at least an hour before serving
