  • 1 lb carne asada skirt steak or flank steak
  • 4 cups frozen french fries or homemade fries
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup guacamole
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ½ cup salsa mild or hot based on preference
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix olive oil, lime juice, ground cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper then coat the carne asada with this mixture and marinate for 15 minutes to 2 hours.
  2. Preheat the oven as per the frozen fries package or heat oil for homemade fries and cook the fries until crispy and golden.
  3. Heat a grill or grill pan to medium-high and cook the carne asada 4 to 5 minutes per side until medium-rare to medium, then let it rest.
  4. Slice the rested carne asada thinly against the grain.
  5. Arrange fries on a large platter then top with sliced carne asada and shredded cheddar cheese.
  6. Briefly place the platter under the broiler to melt the cheese if desired.
  7. Add guacamole, sour cream, salsa, and chopped cilantro on top.
  8. Serve the carne asada fries hot and enjoy the blend of flavors immediately.
