Description

Chili Garlic Noodles offer a lively and spicy flavor experience with silky noodles coated in a rich chili sauce enhanced by fresh garlic. This dish balances heat and zest, perfect for a quick and satisfying weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200 grams noodles
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon chili paste
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1⁄4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon green onions chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Boil a large pot of water and cook the noodles until just tender, then drain and keep aside.
  2. Combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili paste, sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes in a bowl and set this sauce aside.
  3. Warm vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat, then add garlic and ginger, cooking until their aroma rises for about 1 to 2 minutes.
  4. Pour the prepared sauce into the skillet and mix it thoroughly with the garlic and ginger.
  5. Add water to the skillet and let the sauce gently simmer for 2 to 3 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  6. Toss the drained noodles into the skillet, stirring well so they get fully coated with the sauce.
  7. Remove the skillet from the heat once the noodles are hot throughout.
  8. Plate the noodles and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • Use whole wheat or rice noodles for a healthier alternative
  • Adjust the chili paste and red pepper flakes to control spice levels
  • For extra crunch, add chopped peanuts or cashews as a topping
  • Try adding sautĂ©ed vegetables like bell peppers or bok choy for added flavor
  • Serve with a side of pickled vegetables to balance the heat
