- 8 oz penne pasta
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 medium onion diced
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tsp olive oil for sautéing
Instructions
- Prepare the penne pasta following package directions until it’s tender but still firm, then drain it and save a cup of the pasta water.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet on medium, add the diced onion and minced garlic, and cook until fragrant, about 5 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart and cooking until browned, approximately 7 minutes, seasoning with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Turn the heat down and stir in the heavy cream, then add reserved pasta water gradually until you reach the sauce consistency you like; melt in the Parmesan cheese by stirring.
- Toss the cooked pasta in the sauce gently to combine and warm through.
- Serve immediately, topping with extra Parmesan or fresh parsley if you want.
