Ingredients
Scale
- 10.5 oz cabbage
- 5.5 oz carrots
- ½ teaspoon fine sea salt + more if needed
- 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 5 tablespoons dry breadcrumbs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ¾ cup + 2 tablespoons cold water
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil + more if needed
Instructions
- Thinly slice the cabbage and grate the carrots using small holes of a box grater, then place them in a bowl. Sprinkle with salt and massage the mixture until the cabbage softens.
- Mix in the breadcrumbs, flour, baking powder, and all spices thoroughly. Pour in the cold water and soy sauce, stirring well. Add extra salt if needed.
- Heat one tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Drop heaping spoonfuls of the mixture into the pan and gently press them flat. Fry for about 3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Transfer fritters to paper towels to absorb excess oil. Repeat frying with remaining batter, adding more oil as needed. Serve the fritters warm.
Notes
- Serve topped with finely sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired
