  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika smoked paprika is optional for extra flavor
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch for extra crispiness

Instructions

  1. Heat your oven to 425°F or 220°C and put a baking sheet in to warm.
  2. If you choose, peel the sweet potatoes and slice them into fries about ¼ inch thick, ensuring they are evenly cut.
  3. Soak the fries in cold water for 30 minutes to eliminate excess starch for better crispiness.
  4. Drain and dry the fries completely using paper towels, then toss them with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cornstarch if using.
  5. Take the hot baking sheet from the oven and arrange the fries in a single layer without overcrowding.
  6. Bake the fries for 25 to 30 minutes, turning them halfway through until they turn crispy and golden.
  7. After baking, allow the fries to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • If you would like your fries extra crispy, adding cornstarch before baking creates a light coating that absorbs moisture and crisps the exterior while keeping inside soft
