Description

Crock Pot Honey Garlic Chicken is the perfect easy dinner for busy weeknights. This family dinner features tender slow cooker chicken coated in a sweet honey garlic sauce, making it a flavorful honey garlic recipe everyone will enjoy.


Ingredients

  • 2 ½ pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • ½ cup soy sauce (I prefer light soy sauce)
  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 5 cloves garlic minced (about 5 teaspoons)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons fresh minced ginger
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 Tablespoons cornstarch
  • Optional toppings: sesame seeds
  • sliced green onions

Instructions

  1. Place boneless skinless chicken thighs into a 5-6 quart slow cooker.
  2. Whisk together soy sauce, honey, ketchup, minced garlic, fresh minced ginger, sesame oil, and crushed red pepper flakes in a medium bowl.
  3. Pour the sauce over the chicken in the slow cooker.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 3-5 hours or on high for 2-3 hours until the chicken is tender and reaches 165°F.
  5. Remove the chicken and shred it using two forks.
  6. Mix water and cornstarch in a small bowl to create a slurry.
  7. Stir the cornstarch mixture and shredded chicken back into the slow cooker sauce.
  8. Cover and cook on high for 15 to 20 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  9. Serve over rice, noodles, or vegetables and top with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.

  • Do not lift the lid during cooking to ensure chicken stays tender and cooks evenly
