- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon corn starch
- 1/3 cup water
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1/2 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup flour
- 2 egg whites
- 1/2 cup cold seltzer water
- 1 lb chicken thighs boneless and skinless cut into 1 inch chunks
- vegetable oil for deep frying
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
Instructions
- Combine all the sauce ingredients thoroughly in a bowl.
- In another bowl, gently whisk together the batter components until mixed and coat the chicken pieces in the batter.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350 degrees and fry the battered chicken in small batches until golden and crispy.
- Warm sesame oil in a large skillet or wok, then sauté garlic and crushed red pepper for 30 seconds.
- Pour in the prepared sauce and toss the fried chicken quickly to coat, then serve immediately topped with sesame seeds.
