Ingredients
Scale
- Pasta of your choice
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 tbsp chopped onion
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 2 tbsp butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp oregano
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- Shredded parmesan
- Parsley or Cilantro garnishing
Instructions
- Prepare the pasta according to its package directions until al dente, then drain and save about 1 cup of the pasta cooking water.
- In a large pan over medium heat, melt the butter and add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened and fragrant.
- Mix in the tomato paste with the sautéed onion and garlic, then season with oregano and salt.
- Reduce the heat and add tomato sauce, heavy cream, and Italian seasoning, stirring until the sauce becomes pink and thickens slightly; let it simmer gently for a few minutes.
- Toss the cooked pasta into the sauce, coating it well; thin the sauce with reserved pasta water if needed.
- Sprinkle shredded parmesan over the pasta and stir to melt the cheese into the sauce.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro or parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
- Make sure to simmer the sauce on low heat so it does not separate the heavy cream during cooking
