Description

Old American Goulash is a simple and comforting one pot meal perfect for busy weeknights. This easy dinner combines familiar ingredients for a satisfying family dinner full of classic flavors. Enjoy a hearty comfort food that comes together quickly.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 15 ounce can crushed tomatoes
  • 8 ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup elbow macaroni pasta cooked measured before cooking
  • grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat a large saucepan over medium heat and cook the ground beef with diced onion and minced garlic, breaking the meat into pieces until fully browned then drain the leftover grease.
  2. Mix in the crushed tomatoes along with their juices and tomato sauce.
  3. Add sugar, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper then stir everything and bring it to a boil.
  4. Lower the heat and let the sauce simmer gently for about 10 minutes.
  5. Stir in the cooked macaroni and continue to simmer for an additional 5 minutes before serving.
  6. Top servings with grated Parmesan cheese.

Notes

  • Add in additional veggies your family enjoys! Green peppers, diced tomatoes or mushrooms would all be great additions
  • Shredded cheddar cheese can also be added
  • A tad of sugar is added to cut the acidity from the tomatoes
