Description

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak is a hearty and comforting meal perfect for busy weeknights. This easy dinner recipe delivers tender patties with rich gravy that the whole family will enjoy. A classic family dinner and easy weeknight meal in one.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 large egg well beaten
  • ½ cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 ounce packet beefy onion soup mix
  • 3 Tablespoons milk
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans beef broth
  • 1 ounce packet au jus gravy mix
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 Tablespoons cornstarch
  • fresh chopped parsley for garnish optional

Instructions

  1. Combine ground beef egg breadcrumbs onion soup mix milk and Worcestershire sauce in a large bowl using your hands to mix thoroughly.
  2. Shape the mixture into 8 equal patties.
  3. Coat each patty by dipping both sides into flour shaking off the extra.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and brown patties on both sides without cooking through.
  5. Spray a 6-quart slow cooker with cooking spray and layer patties inside stacking if needed.
  6. In a bowl whisk beef broth au jus mix garlic Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard then pour over patties.
  7. Cook on low for 4 to 5 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours until patties reach 165°F and become tender.
  8. Remove patties to a plate then bring the slow cooker liquid to a simmer in a skillet.
  9. Whisk water and cornstarch in a small bowl then slowly add to simmering gravy stirring constantly until thickened about 1 to 2 minutes.
  10. Return patties to slow cooker if desired pour thickened gravy on top and keep warm until serving. Serve with mashed potatoes egg noodles or rice.

  • Regular onion soup mix can be used if beefy onion soup mix is unavailable
  • Use only lean ground beef to reduce grease
  • A 6-quart oval slow cooker works well
  • Patties can be made larger though quantity will reduce
  • Use low or no sodium ingredients if you are salt sensitive
