Description

This comforting chili recipe is perfect for family dinners. Made with hearty ground beef and beans, it’s a classic for Ree Drummond Chili fans. Enjoy an easy, delicious homemade chili full of rich flavors and warmth.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1 green bell pepper diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cans 14.5 oz each diced tomatoes
  • 1 can 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 cans 15 oz each kidney beans drained and rinsed
  • 1 can 15 oz pinto beans drained and rinsed
  • 23 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper optional
  • salt and black pepper to taste
  • shredded cheese optional
  • sour cream optional
  • green onions optional
  • avocado slices optional
  • tortilla chips optional

Instructions

  1. Dice onion and bell pepper and mince garlic.
  2. Heat oil in a large pot and brown the ground beef or turkey, drain excess fat and set aside.
  3. Sauté onion, bell pepper, and garlic in the same pot until softened and fragrant.
  4. Return meat to pot and stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper if using, salt, and black pepper, cook 1-2 minutes.
  5. Add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and beef broth and bring to a simmer.
  6. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 45 minutes.
  7. Stir in kidney and pinto beans, simmer for another 15 minutes.
  8. Adjust seasoning as needed and serve with optional toppings.
