  • 1 tsp sweet paprika $0.10
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika $0.05
  • ¼ tsp black pepper freshly cracked $0.02
  • 2 chicken breasts boneless skinless (about 1.3 lb. total) $3.47
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil $0.22

Instructions

  1. Combine steak seasoning, sweet paprika, smoked paprika, and black pepper in a small bowl.
  2. Place chicken breasts on a board covered with plastic wrap or parchment and gently pound to an even thickness of about ½ inch to ¾ inch.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F and brush olive oil over both sides of the chicken.
  4. Rub the seasoning mixture evenly onto both sides of the chicken breasts.
  5. Put the chicken in the air fryer basket and cook for 7 minutes, then flip and cook for an additional 6 minutes.
  6. Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer to ensure it has reached 165°F, cooking 1-2 minutes longer if needed.
  7. Remove the chicken and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • I went with a simple spice blend using steak seasoning paprika and freshly cracked black pepper
  • Steak seasoning usually includes a good amount of salt so no extra salt was needed for this recipe
  • You can also mix things up and try different seasoning mixes
  • I fit two boneless skinless chicken breasts that were roughly 2/3 lb
  • each into my 5-quart air fryer with plenty of room on the sides for air to circulate

  • Generally speaking it takes about 15 minutes to air fry an average-sized chicken breast
  • Depending on factors like thickness and total weight it may take less or more time to cook
  • I recommend starting with 7 minutes flipping and cooking for another 6 minutes then temperature-checking the chicken with an instant-read thermometer
  • If it’s at 165°F it is good to go
  • If not cook it for 1-2 minutes longer
