Description
Air Fryer Chicken Gyros Pita is a quick and flavorful meal perfect for an easy dinner or weeknight dinner. This family dinner combines crispy chicken, fresh toppings, and creamy tzatziki for a homemade gyros pita experience everyone will enjoy.

- ½ cup whole milk Greek yogurt
- 4 cloves garlic grated or minced
- 1 lemon zest and juice
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon sweet paprika
- ½ teaspoon turmeric
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ – 1 teaspoon red pepper flake spice preference
- 6 medium boneless skinless chicken thighs or 3 boneless chicken breasts halved lengthwise
- 3 cups shredded iceberg lettuce
- ½ cup red onion thinly sliced
- 1 beefsteak tomato sliced
- 4 large Pita flatbreads optional for serving
- tzatziki optional for serving
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the yogurt, garlic, lemon zest and juice, salt, cumin, onion powder, paprika, turmeric, black pepper, cinnamon, and red pepper flakes. Add the chicken and ensure it is well coated with the marinade. Let it marinate at least 30 minutes or up to overnight, but no more than 36 hours.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F, then arrange the chicken thighs in a single even layer and air fry for 20 to 24 minutes, turning halfway through. Cook in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding.
- Once cooked, transfer the chicken to a cutting board and slice it.
- Assemble the gyros by layering sliced chicken, shredded lettuce, red onion, tomato slices, and tzatziki on pita bread or serve the chicken over a salad as desired.
