- 3 tablespoons butter I use salted but you can use unsalted
- 3 teaspoons garlic paste or three cloves of garlic
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1/8 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/16 teaspoon black pepper
- 12 ounces sea scallops pat dry with a paper towel
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- dash black pepper
- Old Bay seasoning shake as much as you want on
Instructions
- Melt the butter over medium low heat in a saucepan.
- Stir in the garlic paste and cook for two minutes.
- Add lemon juice, dried parsley, sea salt, and black pepper, mixing well, then reduce heat to keep the sauce warm.
- Pat the scallops dry using paper towels.
- Season scallops with kosher salt, black pepper, and Old Bay seasoning on both sides.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400℉ for 5 minutes.
- Arrange scallops in the air fryer basket with space between them.
- Cook the scallops for 6 minutes at 400℉, flipping halfway at 3 minutes.
- Transfer scallops to a serving plate and pour the garlic butter sauce over them using a rubber spatula to scrape all sauce from the pan.
- Serve immediately and enjoy.
Notes
- Make the sauce first and keep it warm at your stove’s lowest setting
- Use fresh scallops and dry them thoroughly for the best sear
- Avoid bay scallops as they shrink and timing can be uncertain
- Preheat your air fryer to get a nice exterior texture
- Cook scallops in a single layer for even cooking, batch cook if necessary
- For basket air fryers, do not place scallops too close to the heating element
- With tray air fryers, remove trays before preheating and place scallops on the bottom rack to avoid proximity to the top heating element
