Description

Air Fryer Scallops Garlic Butter is a quick and flavorful recipe perfect for an easy dinner, weeknight dinner, or family dinner. Enjoy crispy air fryer scallops topped with a rich garlic butter sauce that makes garlic butter scallops irresistible.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tablespoons butter I use salted but you can use unsalted
  • 3 teaspoons garlic paste or three cloves of garlic
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/8 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/16 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 ounces sea scallops pat dry with a paper towel
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • dash black pepper
  • Old Bay seasoning shake as much as you want on

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter over medium low heat in a saucepan.
  2. Stir in the garlic paste and cook for two minutes.
  3. Add lemon juice, dried parsley, sea salt, and black pepper, mixing well, then reduce heat to keep the sauce warm.
  4. Pat the scallops dry using paper towels.
  5. Season scallops with kosher salt, black pepper, and Old Bay seasoning on both sides.
  6. Preheat the air fryer to 400℉ for 5 minutes.
  7. Arrange scallops in the air fryer basket with space between them.
  8. Cook the scallops for 6 minutes at 400℉, flipping halfway at 3 minutes.
  9. Transfer scallops to a serving plate and pour the garlic butter sauce over them using a rubber spatula to scrape all sauce from the pan.
  10. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

  • Make the sauce first and keep it warm at your stove’s lowest setting
  • Use fresh scallops and dry them thoroughly for the best sear
  • Avoid bay scallops as they shrink and timing can be uncertain
  • Preheat your air fryer to get a nice exterior texture
  • Cook scallops in a single layer for even cooking, batch cook if necessary
  • For basket air fryers, do not place scallops too close to the heating element
  • With tray air fryers, remove trays before preheating and place scallops on the bottom rack to avoid proximity to the top heating element
