Description

This Air Fryer Zaatar Chicken delivers crispy air fryer chicken with bold zaatar spice chicken flavors. Perfect for an easy dinner or weeknight dinner, it makes a delicious family dinner everyone will enjoy.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1.6kg Whole chicken
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp za’atar
  • optional 2 cloves garlic minced Omit for low fodmap
  • 1/3 tsp black pepper
  • Optional pinch of salt
  • Squeeze of lime
  • 1 tbsp coriander finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Warm up your air fryer to 180C.
  2. Remove any giblets from the chicken and split it open by cutting along both sides of the backbone, then discard the backbone.
  3. Flip the chicken breast-side up and press down firmly to flatten it, tucking the wings behind the breast.
  4. Combine olive oil, za’atar, and garlic if using, then rub the mixture on and under the chicken skin. Season with black pepper and salt if desired.
  5. Place the chicken skin-side up in the air fryer and cook for 55 minutes until crisp and fully cooked.
  6. Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes, then carve or shred it. Finish by squeezing lime over and adding fresh coriander before serving.
